Recent Nobel Peace Prize Winners

It is in Stockholm, Sweden where most Nobel Prizes are given away. The Nobel Peace Prize is presented annually during their Prize Award Ceremony; they are called the “Swedish Prizes”. For followers of this ceremony, they would remember Leonid Hurwicz at 90 years old winning the Nobel Prize in Economics for 2007. He was the oldest Nobel Laureate. Other notable winners of 2007 are Peter Grunberg and Albert Fert for Physics; Gerhard Ertl for Chemistry; Mario Capecchi, Oliver Smithies and Sir Martin Evans for Medicine to name a few.

Recent Nobel Literature

Persian born novelist, Doris Lessing is the latest Novel Prize winner in Literature at the age of 88. Her autobiographical way of writing about political issue in her time won the nod of the award giving body. Other than the prestige Ms. Lessing got from winning the award, it also comes with 10M Swedish crown which is equivalent to $1.6 million.
