Drottningholm

The royal castle with all its surroundings was added to the UNSECO world heritage list. But there are much more reasons why Drottningholm is worth a visit. It is still the official residence of the royal family, so you might run into Princess Victoria or Madeleine, and many of the rooms are open to the public. Visit the small theatre on the same grounds, with the oldest working stage in the world as well as the Chinese pavillon. It was a present of King Adolf Frederik to his wife Lovisa Ulrika for her 33rd birthday. It was built in Stockholm, secretly shipped to Drottningholm in the middle of the night and assembled immediately. Unfortunately, the pavilion had to be teared down because it started to rot. But it was replaced by the Chinese pavilion, which can still be visited today.
