Bicycling in Stockholm

Ride a bike around Stockholm? That´s a great idea! Where you ride is more important than anything else. With that in mind, we recommend "att cykla i Stockholm city," an excellent pamphlet that is available at the Stockholm Visitors Board. In addition, we recommend that you use caution and wear a helmet. For a long time, Stockholm´s politicians have been encouraging bicycling as an environmentally friendly, healthy, and easy way to get around. As a result of their efforts, the city is filled with bike paths that are, to the extent possible, separated from automobile traffic. However, bike riders do not yet dominate the street scene, as they do in Amsterdam and Copenhagen. However, it´s obvious from the full bicycle racks at commuter train stations that bicycles are a very common ingredient in Stockholm´s daily life.
